Introducing the Retro Millennial Chat Threads!
A private space for us to talk about all the things we like around here.
Ahoy and aloha fellow nerds! A few weeks ago I received an email from the team here at Substack about a new chat feature that had just rolled out. At first I didn’t really think much of it, but after seeing how they implemented the chat, I thought it might be a fun addition to The Retro Millennial. So today I’m happy to announce The Retro Millennial subscriber chat.
Currently there are a few active threads:
The Retro Finds Chat: Games? Tech? Nostalgic cookware? Share your retro finds with the community here!
The Retro Gaming Chat: A dedicated chat for lovers of retro console, PC, Mac, and arcade gaming. Share what’s on your mind with the community.
The Vintage Computing Chat: A place to nerd out about our old tech and all that goes along with that.
The Wild Nostalgia Chat: A place for us to share those fun moments when we find something nostalgic — nerdy or otherwise — out in the world. Maybe it’s that random Windows NT 4 counter that small business is running behind the counter, a random Delorean passing you in the city, or photos of the old Blockbuster Video. Share them here!
These chats are available for all subscribers to The Retro Millennial, but paid subscribers can also expect exclusive chats in the future. As of right now chat is only available on the Substack Reader apps for iOS and Android. I’m really hoping that the feature will be rolled out to desktop users in the near future, but I’ll let you know if/when that happens.
Below are instructions to get started. I hope to see you and all of the cool stuff you all have to share in the chats!
Join the Chats!
To join our chat, you’ll need to download the Substack app, now available. Chats are sent via the app, not email, so turn on push notifications so you don’t miss conversation as it happens.
How to get started
Download the app by clicking this link or the button below. Substack Chat is now available on both iOS and Android.
Open the app and tap the Chat icon. It looks like two bubbles in the bottom bar, and you’ll see a row for my chat inside.
That’s it! Jump into my thread to say hi, and if you have any issues, check out Substack’s FAQ.
